The Canadians Council of Scholars was established in 2017 to unite the Imams all over Canada under one body to provide effective Muslim leadership in Canada. It is a collective leadership of Imams (Ministers of Religion) in Canada, acting as a unifying platform for Canadian Imams. The Council supports the Shia Muslim communities in Canada in matters of spirituality, religion, guidance, and leadership. The aim in doing so is to guarantee the preservation of their religious identity with the promotion of citizenship.
The objective of the Canadians Council of Scholars is to provide a platform for Imams to come together and address issues affecting the Muslim Community at large, assist in coordinating Islamic activities in various communities, and to build bridges with the leadership of other faith groups and find ways to work with them on different issues of common concern and interest.
The Canadian Council of Scholars is also responsible for the Canadian Academy of Religions Studies, which is an unprecedented theological seminary that provides formal education of the Islamic faith by qualified Muslim scholarship in a contemporary context. We believe that learning religion in a healthy environment under a well-trained and versed Canadian Muslim scholarship will help produce a generation of domestic leadership that will be able to serve the increasing numbers of Canadian Muslims. The emphasis is given to learning and understanding, as well as improving religious community services at all levels.
The Quran is the primary source of Islamic faith and practice. The Canadians Council of Scholars believes that spreading the good Word of God is through practicing and living the Quran in daily lives, such as kindness within the family, being a loving neighbour and through good citizenship. The Canadians Council of Scholars strongly believes in harmonious and peaceful relations with people of other faiths through the sharing of our ways of life and belief.
The Canadian Council of Scholars respects all but does not endorse any specific, Marjeyah, political parties or candidates. We support each other in working for policies that both embody and actively foster love and caring, kindness and generosity, nonviolence, ethical and ecological sensitivity.
The mission of the Canadian Council of Scholars (CCS) is to provide religious leadership, rulings, and services to the Muslim community in Canada by supporting local Islamic organizations, developing Islamic research, educational, social, and outreach programs, and fostering good relations with other faith communities and the wider Canadian society in an effort to promote harmony and cooperation.
The vision of the Canadian Council of Scholars (CCS) is to be a leading national body representing mainstream Islam in Canada. The Canadian Council of Scholars aims to utilize the skills, qualifications, and expertise of imams, Islamic scholars, and prominent community members to promote and contribute to the betterment of the Canadian Muslim community and the wider Canadian society at large.
